The Rural Fire Service Centre at Cudgegong is a groundbreaking project set to redefine emergency response capabilities in the NSW, Mid-Western region. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to encompass three essential buildings, each playing a crucial role in enhancing the overall preparedness and safety of the community during and after the bush fire season.
The Fire Control Command Centre, is a fortified facility that will serve as the nerve centre for managing emergency situations. The features of the centre include 33 operations and logistics workspaces, general office space, 2 large training rooms, full kitchen facilities, private office space, meeting room and BBQ area. A communication tower has also been fitted that will ensure seamless connectivity. The Fire Control Centre will stand ready for any challenge.
The Community Education Centre is another integral component, featuring dedicated spaces for the RFSA Gallery and the NSW RFS heritage tanker hall. Other areas include staff rooms, reception, and bathroom amenities. This multifaceted building will be a hub for community engagement, education and will inspire future generations.
Lastly, the State Mitigation & Stores Building is constructed to facilitate the operational needs of the fire control centre, with provisions for truck parking, stores room, multi-purpose room, and office space. From structural to interior works every aspect has been meticulously constructed and ready to support the critical functions.
The external works of the project are equally significant, addressing essential components such as fire hydrants booster for truck filling, level 1 electrical works, NBN connectivity, 4 large rainwater tanks, internal roads, and accessibility-compliant car parking. Automatic sliding gates with an intercom system, secure fencing around the whole premises, and carefully planned landscaping which contributes to the functionality and aesthetics of the entire facility.
