Refurbishment
Hines Constructions were engaged by the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst to complete the refurbishment of blocks D, E and the canteen at the St Mary’s Primary Catholic School, Orange. Alleanza Architects were the design consultant who worked with the client to design a suitable learning space within the already existing area.
The project included demolition and removal of all existing internal classrooms and canteen to bring the areas back to a blank shell. The new build included additional steel structures to incorporate new design, as well as new walls and flooring.
Each block consisted of four classrooms which were consolidated into one open learning space to enable collaborative learning. The canteen was substantially increased in size to accommodate the school‘s expected future expansion.
Works were to be completed within a tight deadline to reduce the amount of time that the school did not have access to the areas. The refurbishment was completed within a live school environment. Special caution and appropriate fencing was established and maintained to protect the safety of the school children and staff.
“We were very pleased with the performance and standard of construction. We have no hesitation in recommending and considering Hines for future projects.” Alleanza Architecture
